City Girls, Country Girls and Jazz Babies.

By 1979 The Pointer Sisters decided they wanted to have big bank accounts, nice houses and fancy cars like all the rest of their money making peers.  And who, really, can blame them.  But before that is when these honeys really cooked! As evidence, savor the three offerings below.

CITY GIRLS.  Puttin' the fun in funky.

COUNTRY GIRLS.  This self-penned ditty afforded them the honor of being the first black females to perform at the Grand Ol Opry.

JAZZ BABIES.  Swingin', Basie style.

I liked the old Pointed Sisters when they were jazzy and showed up on things like Carol Burnett.

I still like Bonnie Pointer the best.

I was laying on the beach at Daytona in the summer of 1975. I was listening to "Steppin" by the lovely Pointer Sisters. A woman dressed like it was winter walked up and asked if I wanted to buy some heroin. I was unnerved, but my love for Pointer Sisters remained. I spent several years looking for "Steppin" on any format, finally found it on vinyl on ebay. YUM!

You should have told that woman that you were saving your bones for Henry Jones.

i loved both versions of, "heaven must've sent you", the slower 60's-ish was my favorite.

My friend from Sumnmer Stock in the early 1970s- Nancy Bleiweiss, star of SF's Beach Blanket Babylon, introduced me to June Pointer back then... she was beautiful & charming.
