I Guess You Could Call It A Couch Condom...

Crawford in the Hollywood apartment she kept in the 1960s.  Located behind Loretta Young's house on Fountain Avenue.
"There was more plastic on that furniture than on the meat at the A&P."
-Interior Decorator Carleton Varney

This is probably my favorite quote from the documentary, "Joan Crawford: The Ultimate Movie Star", and yes, your humble host was the Associate Producer of that little epic.

Who painted those creepy pictures of little kids with enormous eyes?

Keene, whom she commissioned to do that painting of her. She was wild for his stuff.

That painting makes her look as if she were caught out doors in the rain or she's been crying and her mascara is running.

I am so obsessed w/that Keane of her. I wonder who has it now? Jerry Lewis' one is my very favorite.

Hahaha-I love it!
Felix, have I ever mentioned how much I want/envy your life? Too awesome, that was a great documentary!
And Ms. Lethal, there have been reports that the Keene painting of her was damaged/destroyed beyond the point of repair at some point after Joan Crawford's death and no longer exists. I hope it's not true.

maybe someone will find that painting and make cheap reprints so that we can go to kmart & target and buy them for our playrooms.

no doubt carlton was instrumental in the carefully planned chatchkah arrangement on the coffee table. i always have a bottle of pepsi next to my oscar. always.

i have a book of varney's, given to me by a friend. he was a favorite laugh of ours.
